'Development pathway' earns Sundown Pastoral farm manager grower of the year title

Sundown Pastoral is on a “development pathway” to make cotton farming time effective, traceable and sustainable.

By automating irrigation and implementing a fibre trace system Sundown Pastoral is a leader in feeding and clothing the world.

Leading the operation is farm manager Nick Gillingham, who oversees “Keytah” in Moree, NSW.

His dedication to sustainable and future proofing farming systems was recognised at the recent Australian Cotton Conference where he was named the 2022 Bayer Cotton Grower of the Year.

Sundown Pastoral consists of 25,000 hectares, with 10,000 under irrigation and half used for cotton production each year.

In addition, 10,000ha is assigned to dryland cropping, with another 5000ha retained as native vegetation.
