Australian Plant Breeder Takes Out Prestigious International Award

The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has announced that Dr Greg Constable, of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia, has been selected as the recipient of the ICAC Cotton Researcher of the Year for 2015.

Dr Constable is an eminent leader in the international cotton research community. He was one of the primary organizers of the first World Cotton Research Conference in Australia in 1994. He is the current chairman of the Internal Cotton Researchers Association and played a leading role in its establishment.

Dr Constable’s experience in cotton research is spread over four decades. His achievements are well recognized in three fields of research: agronomy, breeding and physiology and scientific leadership.

Average cotton yields in Australia are currently not only the highest in the world but are almost three times the global average. Dr Constable has made a significant contribution to this outstanding performance.
