myBMP recognised by ITC Sustainability Map

The Australian cotton myBMP standard was recently included in the International Trade Centre (ITC) Sustainability Map, a new online platform enabling businesses around the world to trade more sustainably.

The myBMP program went through a rigorous assessment to ensure it met with ITC’s strict criteria and now sits alongside over 230 sustainability standards covering many agricultural commodities including cotton.

According to Cotton Australia’s myBMP Manager Rick Kowitz, these types of initiatives elevate the Australian cotton certification program globally.

“As almost all Australian cotton is exported, it’s critical that our environmental certification program is promoted in global networks such as the ITC Sustainability Map,” Rick said.

“Cotton Australia will be looking at other potential partnerships and alliances that will provide third party, independent endorsement of the work we’re doing here in Australia. These provide even more assurance that Cotton LEADS cotton from Australia is produced at the highest standard,” he said.
